Do SBA loans have to be paid back?

Yes. SBA loans must be paid back in full, with interest, like any other loan. The confusion usually comes from pandemic-era PPP loans, which had a forgiveness feature: standard SBA 7(a), 504, and Express loans have no forgiveness component. They're loans made by banks and SBA-approved lenders, with the SBA guaranteeing a portion for the lender, not for you. Borrowing on the assumption that any part disappears is a costly mistake. What SBA loans do offer is some of the lowest-cost capital available to small businesses, and Quordx Capital can show you whether you qualify.

How SBA repayment actually works

You repay the lender, not the SBA, in regular installments over the loan term. The SBA's guarantee protects the lender if you default; it doesn't reduce what you owe. Current 7(a) variable rates run roughly 10.5%-14% depending on loan size (caps are Prime + 3.0% to + 6.5%, with Prime at 7.50% as of June 2026). 504 loans carry fixed rates for the life of the loan, typically effective rates in the 5-7% range. Miss payments, and the lender pursues collection like any creditor, and because most SBA loans require a personal guarantee from owners of 20% or more, your personal assets are on the line too. SBA loans are not grants; the SBA also doesn't broker grants through programs like these, and neither does Quordx Capital.

If repayment terms are your real question

SBA 7(a): Up to $5M with long terms and fixed monthly payments that keep payments manageable. Best for borrowers who want low cost and can wait out a thorough process.

Business term loans: $10K-$500K+ over 1-5 years with fixed payments. Best when you want predictable repayment and faster funding than SBA.

Business lines of credit: $10K-$250K+, revolving; you repay only what you draw. Best for flexible, repeat borrowing.

How Quordx Capital Works

A single application, around 5 minutes, plus one document upload gets your profile in front of Quordx Capital's matching process, which screens 50+ vetted lenders and returns 3-7 matches ranked by likelihood of approval. Conventional decisions usually arrive in 24-48 hours, with funding in 3-7 business days; SBA loans run on a longer clock.

What to Expect

If you're hoping for money that doesn't need repaying, that's grant territory: Quordx Capital doesn't broker grants and won't pretend otherwise. What you'll get instead is a clear picture of the lowest-cost debt you actually qualify for, with every rate and fee disclosed before you commit. Checking is free, and there's zero obligation to take any offer.
