What revenue do you need for a $1 million business loan?

There's no universal revenue minimum for a $1 million business loan: lenders care less about a specific revenue number and more about whether your cash flow comfortably covers the payment after all existing obligations. A business with $2M in revenue and fat margins can qualify while a $5M-revenue business with thin margins gets declined. Guessing at the threshold and applying unprepared burns time and credit inquiries. Quordx Capital evaluates your actual numbers against 50+ lenders and tells you which seven-figure structures are realistic now.

How lenders judge revenue for a $1M loan

Lenders work backward from the payment. They calculate your debt service coverage, cash flow available for debt divided by total debt payments, and generally want your earnings to cover the new payment with room to spare. So the revenue you "need" depends on your margins, your existing debt, the rate, and the term.

The structure matters too. An SBA 7(a) loan at roughly 10.5% (the current cap of Prime + 3.0% for loans over $350K) stretched over a long term carries a far smaller payment than a short-term loan for the same amount, meaning less cash flow required to qualify. Collateral-driven products shift the math again: commercial real estate financing leans on the property's value and income, equipment financing on the asset, and venture debt ($500K-$5M+) on investor backing and revenue trajectory rather than current profits. Expect to document everything: tax returns, P&L, balance sheet, bank statements, and a debt schedule.

Seven-figure structures and what they weigh

SBA 7(a): up to $5M; underwrites historical cash flow and management strength. Best for established, profitable businesses.

Commercial real estate financing: $100K-$10M+; the property's value and income carry significant weight. Best for owner-occupied purchases.

Equipment financing: up to $5M+; the asset secures the deal, easing the pure cash-flow test. Best for fleet and machinery purchases.

Venture debt: $500K-$5M+; growth trajectory and investor support matter more than current profitability. Best for funded startups.

How Quordx Capital Works

Rather than guessing whether your revenue clears a bar, submit one 5-minute application with your financials. Our platform analyzes cash flow, debt load, credit, and industry against 50+ vetted lenders and identifies the 3-7 most likely to approve your deal and structure. Initial decisions often arrive within 24-48 hours; larger deals take longer to fully close.

What to Expect

Expect a straight answer about where your numbers land. If your cash flow supports $1M, you'll see which lenders and structures price it best. If it supports $600K today, we'll say that, and show you what changes the math, whether that's a longer term, collateral, or a few more quarters of growth. The assessment is free, carries no obligation, and doesn't commit you to anything.
