Government Backed Funding For Small Business

Government-backed funding almost always means SBA loans, financing the government guarantees but doesn't issue directly. That guarantee lowers lender risk, which is why these loans carry lower rates and longer terms than most business financing. Quordx Capital matches you to SBA-experienced lenders in our 50+ network and, when SBA timing doesn't fit, lines up faster alternatives in parallel. Initial decisions come back in 24-48 hours, and applying is free.

How Does Government-Backed Funding Actually Work?

The Small Business Administration guarantees a major portion of each approved loan, so a bank or lender extends it on better terms than it otherwise would. SBA 7(a) loans run roughly 9-11.5% APR variable (up to about 14.75% max), with repayment terms far longer than typical business loans, up to 10 years for working capital and 25 for real estate. The money comes from a lender; the government simply backs the risk.

SBA loans require more documentation, full financials, a use-of-funds plan, sometimes a business plan, and take longer to close, but the rates reward established businesses that can wait a few weeks.

Which Government-Backed Options Fit?

SBA 7(a) Loan: The flagship, up to $5M, for working capital, expansion, or acquisition. Best for established businesses (2+ years).

SBA 504 Loan: For major fixed assets like real estate or heavy equipment. Best for property and large equipment purchases.

SBA Express: Faster turnaround, smaller amounts up to $500K. Best for established businesses needing quicker government-backed capital.
