Business Credit / Best-Of

Best Business Credit Cards for Building Business Credit in 2026

Building business credit with a card works only if the issuer reports your payments to the business bureaus, and that separates these five. ExxonMobil BusinessPro reports to Dun & Bradstreet and Experian Business and can be approved on business credit alone. The U.S. Bank Triple Cash Rewards Visa Business Card also reaches Dun & Bradstreet while paying real category cash back. The Chase Ink Business Unlimited Credit Card builds a business file quietly, staying off your personal report. Capital One Spark Cash Select feeds business and personal bureaus at once, which is the point or the problem depending on which file you are fixing. The Bank of America Business Advantage Unlimited Cash Rewards Secured Credit Card is the entry point when unsecured approval is out of reach. Files are built from on-time months, so the card that gets approved and reports beats the ideal card that does not.

How We Picked These Business Credit Builders

Selection started with confirmed reporting to business credit bureaus, because a card that never reports does nothing for a file however well it earns. We then weighed whether ongoing activity also lands on the owner's personal credit, how approachable the underwriting is for a thin profile, and whether the account is cheap to hold for years. Cards appear alphabetically, not ranked. Reporting practices change, so confirm with the issuer.

The 5 Best Business Credit Cards for Building Business Credit

Bank of America

Business Advantage Unlimited Cash Rewards

Bank of America

Business Advantage Unlimited Cash Rewards

Sign-up bonus$300 Statement Credit$3000 in 90 days
Annual fee
$0
Regular APR
16.74% - 26.74%
Variable
Intro APR
0% for 7 billing cycles on purchases
Rewards rate1.5% flat cash back on all purchases. Foreign transaction fee: 3%

When personal credit is what stands between you and an approval, this card still puts reported history on your business file. A security deposit becomes the credit line, and unlike most secured products it pays flat 1.5% cash back on every purchase with no annual fee. Bank of America reports it to the business bureaus including Dun & Bradstreet, without routinely touching your personal report on a paid-as-agreed account. The published upgrade path is what makes it a builder rather than a dead end: after a run of on-time payments, Bank of America documents a move to the unsecured version, releasing the deposit and raising the limit. The costs are locked-up liquidity and a foreign transaction fee.

Capital One

Spark Cash Select

Capital One

Spark Cash Select

Sign-up bonus$750 Cash Bonus$6000 in 3 months
Annual fee
$0
Regular APR
16.74% - 22.74%
Variable
Intro APR
0% for 12 months on purchases
Rewards rate1.5% flat cash back on all purchases; 5% on hotels/cars via Capital One Travel. No foreign transaction fees

Capital One is the outlier on reporting, and here that is a feature. Most of its business cards send full ongoing activity, meaning balances, utilization and payment history, to the owner's personal reports at Experian, Equifax and TransUnion alongside the business bureaus. This card does exactly that, so one account thickens two files at once. It earns unlimited 1.5% cash back, charges no annual fee and no foreign transaction fee, and offers an intro 0% APR period on purchases. Free employee cards, and a personal guarantee is required. Think twice if a mortgage is coming, because a card you run hard lifts personal utilization every cycle.

Chase

Ink Business Unlimited

Chase

Ink Business Unlimited

Sign-up bonus$750 / $1000 Bonus Cash Back$6000 in 3 months
Annual fee
$0
Regular APR
17.74% - 25.74%
Variable
Intro APR
0% for 12 months on purchases
Rewards rate1.5% flat cash back on all purchases. Foreign transaction fee: 3%

This is the low-friction way to put reported business history on the board without disturbing your personal file. Chase reports Ink accounts to business credit bureaus, and activity does not reach your personal report unless the account goes seriously delinquent. Earning is flat 1.5% back on everything with no categories or caps, there is no annual fee, and an intro 0% APR period on purchases makes it cheap to hold for the years a file takes to mature. Employee cards are free and unlimited, so staff spend builds the same history. Two constraints: a foreign transaction fee applies, and Chase's 5/24 guideline means five or more personal card openings in 24 months will likely produce a decline.

ExxonMobil BusinessPro

Most fuel cards sit outside this conversation. This one belongs because the reporting is confirmed and the underwriting starts with the business. Administered by WEX, it applies on your EIN or business tax ID, carries no annual fee, and reports to both Dun & Bradstreet and Experian Business. It is also the most credible claim in the fuel category that a business can be approved on its own credit profile, though the application includes a guarantor section and a personal guarantee may still be requested. The limitation is acceptance: this is a closed-loop card, usable at Exxon and Mobil branded stations only. Treat it as a second reporting line alongside a general-purpose card.

Rewards rate3% cash back on gas EV charging office supplies cell providers TV/internet; 1% other. Foreign transaction fee: 3%

Of the five, this is the one owners still carry years after the file is built, because it pays like a mainstream rewards card while doing the reporting work. U.S. Bank business cards report to the business bureaus including Dun & Bradstreet and do not routinely hit personal credit on an account paid as agreed. Bonus earning covers 3% at gas and EV charging stations, office supply stores, cell phone service providers and restaurants, plus 5% on prepaid hotels and car rentals booked through the U.S. Bank Travel Center. No annual fee, free employee cards, an intro 0% APR period on purchases, and an annual statement credit for recurring software subscriptions. A per-transaction size limit applies on fuel.

How to Choose a Business Credit Card for Building Business Credit

Get the D-U-N-S number first. It is free from Dun & Bradstreet and gates several of the trade accounts that thicken a file fastest, including Grainger and Staples.

Check where the reporting lands, not just that it exists. Bank of America, U.S. Bank and Citi business cards report to Dun & Bradstreet. Chase and American Express report to business bureaus and generally keep activity off your personal report. Capital One reports to both, every cycle.

Pair a card with a net-30 vendor account. Uline approves on business name, contact details and EIN, and reports to Dun & Bradstreet monthly and to Experian Business. Quill approves on EIN with 30 days in operation, though terms usually follow about two months of ordering. Staples requires 20 or more employees and a year in operation.

Keep the account boring. Low utilization and unbroken on-time payments are what the file is made of.

Business Credit Building Questions

Do business credit cards show up on my personal credit report?

Usually not the ongoing balances. Most major issuers keep business card activity off personal credit on an account paid on time, though the application triggers a personal hard inquiry and serious delinquency can still land there. Capital One is the major exception.

How fast does a business credit file actually build?

Slower than most expect. A card reports within a normal billing cycle, but vendor lines lag: Quill typically extends terms after about two months of regular purchasing, then another 90 to 120 days before it reports to Dun & Bradstreet.

Can I build business credit without a personal guarantee?

Only if the business clears a floor. Ramp and Brex skip the guarantee and the personal credit check, but Ramp expects a US business bank account holding roughly $25,000 or more and Brex nearer $50,000. Both exclude sole proprietors.

When a Card Alone Will Not Build Your File

A card builds a file one month at a time, which is useless when a supplier wants paying this week. That is a working capital problem. When it comes up, we at Quordx can match you with funding across 50+ vetted lenders on an application that takes about 10 minutes, with most decisions back inside 24 to 48 hours, and nothing to pay for the match.
