Business Credit / Best-Of

Best Business Credit Cards for Airline Miles and Flights in 2026

The best business credit cards for airline miles in 2026 split at one fork: earn a single airline's currency with the perks attached, or earn a currency you can move into an airline later. Atmos Alaska Airlines Business Credit Card takes loyalty furthest, with an annual companion fare certificate and a checked-bag benefit covering a large party. Citi / AAdvantage Business World Elite Mastercard suits anyone building American Airlines elite status, since employee spend earns Loyalty Points for the business. United Business Card has the widest everyday categories among the co-brands plus a status bonus new for 2026. On the transferable side, The Business Platinum Card from American Express earns points that move to airline partners or buy flights through Amex Travel, and Capital One Venture Business does that with a flat rate instead of a category chart. The test is whether your routes are set by geography or by price: fixed routes favor the co-brands, everything else favors a currency that can change its mind.

How We Picked These Airline Cards

Airline cards live or die on two things, so those are what we compared: where the miles can go after you earn them, and what the card does for you at the airport. We prioritized durable published benefits such as checked bags, boarding groups and elite-qualifying credit over promotional extras, and checked every name against current branding, since two were renamed. Listed alphabetically, not ranked. Confirm terms with the issuer.

Rewards rate3x miles on Alaska Airlines purchases, 1x miles on all other purchases
Recommended scoreGood to Excellent (670-850)

This card is best at getting a second person on the plane cheaply. Its Famous Companion Fare is an annual certificate earned each account anniversary year once a published spend threshold is met, with the companion paying a fixed low fare plus taxes and fees. The free checked bag extends to the cardholder and up to six guests on the same reservation, the most generous companion count here. Earning is 3 miles per dollar on eligible Alaska Airlines purchases and 2 per dollar on gas, EV charging, shipping and local transit including rideshare, with 1 elsewhere. The card carries an annual fee but charges nothing extra on foreign purchases. Note the name: this was the Alaska Airlines Visa Business Card until the Alaska and Hawaiian loyalty merger moved it to Atmos Rewards.

Regular APR
17.74% - 28.49% Variable (Pay Over Time)
Rewards rate5x flights & prepaid hotels on Amex Travel; 1.5x on key categories & purchases $5k+; 1x other. No foreign transaction fees

If you want the flight itself subsidized rather than a specific airline courted, this is the strongest option here. It earns 5x Membership Rewards on flights and prepaid hotels booked through Amex Travel, and 2x on defined business categories plus any eligible purchase of $5,000 or more, under a large combined annual cap. Those points transfer to airline partners, so a booking that prices badly on one carrier can be paid on another. Lounge access and no foreign transaction fee make it the most comfortable card here for long international trips. It is a charge card with no preset spending limit, so balances are due in full unless moved to Pay Over Time. There is an annual fee and, unlike the co-brands here, employee cards are not free.

Rewards rate2x miles on every purchase
Recommended scoreGood to Excellent (670-850)

This is the low-maintenance way to build an airline balance. Every purchase earns 2x miles with no categories to learn, and those miles transfer to more than fifteen airline and hotel partners, redeem as a travel statement credit, or book flights through Capital One's portal. That third option matters: a mile still has a use on a route where no partner flies. Hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Business Travel earn an elevated fixed rate, there is no foreign transaction fee, and employee cards are free. The tradeoffs are real. There are no checked-bag or boarding benefits on any airline, the card was renamed from Capital One Spark Miles for Business in April 2026 and lost its first-year fee waiver, and Capital One reports ongoing activity to the owner's personal credit.

Rewards rate2x on eligible American Airlines purchases, 1x on other purchases
Recommended scoreGood to Excellent (670-850)

For a business flying American, this card does something the others cannot: employee purchases earn AAdvantage miles and Loyalty Points for the business, so the whole team's spending pushes toward elite status. Earning is 2 miles per dollar on eligible American Airlines purchases and at telecom merchants, cable and satellite providers, car rental merchants and gas stations, with 1 elsewhere. The first checked bag is free on domestic American itineraries for the cardmember and up to four companions on the same reservation, and Group 5 preferred boarding extends to the same group. Employee cards are free and there is no foreign transaction fee. Worth stating plainly: this is the only Citi small business card open to new applicants, so there is no Citi alternative to fall back on.

Regular APR

Rewards rate2x United dining gas office supplies local transit; 1x all other. No foreign transaction fees

Among the co-brands, this one earns on the widest range of ordinary spending: 2x miles on United purchases, restaurants, gas stations, local transit and commuting, and office supply stores, with 1x elsewhere. The airport benefits are practical rather than showy: a free first checked bag for the cardmember and one companion on the same reservation, priority boarding, and two United Club one-time passes each year, which are passes rather than membership. An annual United travel credit unlocks after a set number of qualifying United flight purchases, and starting in 2026 the card grants a 1,000 PQP bonus annually if the account was opened by December 31 of the prior year. There is no foreign transaction fee, employee cards are free, and employee spend earns into the owner's account. It was refreshed in March 2025, so older write-ups are wrong.

How to Choose a Business Credit Card for Airline Miles

Count airlines, not flights. If roughly three quarters of your itineraries sit with one carrier, the co-brand pays you twice, in miles and in bags and boarding. If bookings scatter across three airlines chasing schedules, a co-brand card is a bet you keep losing.

Value the ground benefits separately. Checked bags, boarding groups and lounge passes are worth the same whether or not you redeem a mile. Price those first, then multipliers.

Read the companion counts. One card here covers six guests on a reservation, another four, another one. If your team flies together, that line matters more than the earn rate.

Transferable points are insurance. A co-brand currency is only as good as that airline's award availability on your routes. Points that move to several programs, or buy a ticket outright through a portal, protect you when the award seat is not there.

Business Airline Miles Card Questions

Do employee cards earn miles into the business account?

On the co-brands here, yes. United and Citi both post employee spend to the primary account, and Citi credits Loyalty Points to the business too, so staff purchasing feeds the same status run.

Can I move Chase points into an airline program?

Chase Ultimate Rewards points, earned on cards such as Chase Ink Business Preferred, transfer into United MileagePlus. The United Business Card earns MileagePlus miles directly and no transferable points, so the two are complements.

Was the Alaska Airlines business card discontinued?

No, renamed. Alaska and Hawaiian merged their loyalty programs into Atmos Rewards, so the card is now the Atmos Alaska Airlines Business Credit Card and the currency is Atmos Rewards miles.

When Miles Will Not Get You There

Miles pay for seats, not for payroll, inventory or the gap between an invoice going out and money coming in. A travel card is the wrong instrument once the constraint is cash. When that's the situation, Quordx can connect you with lenders across a 50+ lender network, funding can arrive in as few as 3 to 7 business days, and there's no charge to you.
