What is an unsecured business loan?

An unsecured business loan is financing that doesn't require you to pledge specific collateral, no equipment, property, or inventory on the line. Lenders approve you based on your revenue, credit profile, and in nearly all cases a personal guarantee. For owners who don't own hard assets, or won't risk the ones they have, unsecured borrowing is often the only practical path, but it's priced for the lender's extra risk, and the gap between a fair unsecured offer and a bad one is enormous. Quordx Capital puts multiple unsecured offers in front of you from one application, so the market sets your price instead of a single lender.

How Unsecured Business Loans Really Work

Without collateral, lenders underwrite the business itself. They study your bank statements (3-6 months of deposits and balances), monthly revenue (alternative lenders typically want ~$10K+), time in business (3-6 months minimum for many; longer history earns better pricing), and your personal credit.

Two fine-print realities deserve daylight. First, "unsecured" almost never means "no personal responsibility": lenders require a personal guarantee, meaning you personally owe the debt if the business can't pay. Second, many lenders file a UCC lien, a general claim on business assets, even without naming specific collateral. Unsecured describes the structure, not an absence of obligation.

Bank unsecured products price far lower for borrowers who clear strict bars. The compensation is speed and simplicity, no appraisals, no collateral filings, decisions often in 24-48 hours, and funding in as little as 1-3 business days for some products.
