Nav Alternatives: 5 Best Nav Business Funding Competitors

Most owners find Nav while trying to fix their credit, then work out that the money is needed before the credit gets fixed. Nav is built for the first job, not the second.

Nav sells a subscription and prints the price card in public, with a free tier, several paid tiers above it and a discount advertised for paying quarterly. Its FAQ says "Nav provides access to partner offerings and Nav Loans powered by Fundbox" and that "Nav does not lend money directly or guarantee approvals." So you are buying credit monitoring with a marketplace beside it.

What Nav does well, and where the Nav model stops

It names the score it is using on you. Nav states it uses the Vantage 3.0 credit score to decide which credit offers get recommended. Its Funding Readiness Calculator says the result "does not constitute a credit decision, underwriting assessment, or pre-approval" and comes from "modeled estimates informed by general approval trends across Nav's lending marketplace." Fundbox, with First Electronic Bank and Lead Bank, sits behind Nav Loans. Column N.A., Member FDIC, sits behind the card, with Parafin servicing it and Marqeta in the stack. Nav says plainly that "Nav Technologies, Inc. is a financial technology company, not a bank."

It writes its own limits down, and it publishes two statements about compensation. The free tier is labeled as giving you reports "(not scores)." Its published credit improvement claim carries a variance footnote, and a site-wide line says results vary. Its terms carry "NAV IS NOT A FINANCIAL PLANNER, BROKER OR TAX ADVISOR." On compensation, Nav's Terms of Use say it "does not receive nor request compensation for providing you with marketplace offers." Its marketplace Advertising Disclosure says the site "receives compensation when a customer clicks on a link, when an application is approved, or when an account is opened," and that this "may influence how and where products appear." Ask Nav in writing which statement applies to the product you are being shown, and keep the answer.

Know the exit mechanics and the credit authorization before you subscribe. Nav states that membership renews at the start of each successive membership term, that "you will not be eligible for a prorated refund," and that to cancel "you must call Customer Support, or downgrade your plan." It adds that "downgrading your account will not cancel your membership." On credit, no promise that looking leaves your score untouched appears on the pages we reviewed. What appears instead is an FCRA authorization: your "written instructions" allowing recurring pulls from Experian, TransUnion and Dun and Bradstreet. The phrase "soft credit pulls only" belongs to Credibly's listing inside the marketplace, not to Nav itself.

Five funding routes that do not require a Nav membership

Quordx

Our page, our company. Weigh it accordingly.

One application, about 10 minutes, and a person here reads it instead of a scoring screen. We come back with the kinds of funding you can realistically reach right now. Then one complete package goes to three to seven lenders out of a network of 50-plus, picked because they already fund businesses shaped like yours. The lenders we send it to advertise decisions inside 24 to 48 hours, and their own funding estimates run 3 to 7 business days after an approval is signed. It runs by portal and email, so there is no call to sit through and no membership to cancel later.

Some lenders pay us better than others do, and that has never decided what we show you. If the smaller offer is the better one for your business, we will tell you to take it. If your file fits nothing today, you will hear that too, on a day we earn nothing. We are a small shop. Doing this right is the only thing we have.

No invoice from us ever reaches you: no fee to apply, no fee for our side of the work, no fee to process the file. A lender pays us a commission, only after a deal closes. None of that makes the loan free. Whatever your lender charges to write the loan still applies, and closing costs come out of your side. Seeing where you stand is the part that costs nothing. We do not put up the money ourselves and cannot approve you on our own, and we are not set up in California, Nevada, North Dakota or South Dakota.

Fundbox

Fundbox is no stranger here. It is the company behind Nav Loans, and Nav publishes a fee discount for Nav Prime members drawing on that facility.

Go direct and the entry requirement is one line: a business checking account with a minimum history of transactions. No revenue floor, no time in business requirement and no score minimum turned up on the pages we checked. Its opening decision reads bank transaction data on a soft pull, and Fundbox states that the hard pull comes at your first draw. It states you can choose your terms with no early repayment fees. The loans and lines of credit themselves are originated by First Electronic Bank or Lead Bank.

OnDeck

OnDeck was listed in Nav's public marketplace on the day it was reviewed. It is a direct lender, and it publishes its own floor in one place: a personal credit minimum, an annual revenue requirement, a time in business requirement and a business checking account.

Eligibility is assessed with a soft credit check on the owner's personal credit. Its term loan carries a personal guarantee and a general lien on business assets, and payments come out daily, weekly or monthly depending on the funding approved.

Lendio

Lendio is the marketplace with no membership attached. One online financing application reaches a network of vetted lenders and funders, and Lendio publishes the size of that network on its site.

Its privacy policy commits, at Section 4.2, to giving you a list of the financing providers it shared your data with if you ask. It also discloses that lender compensation may affect where offers appear, and that not all market options are listed.

Bluevine

If you want an actual line rather than a better view of your file, Bluevine publishes a maximum line size and repays draws on a weekly plan measured in weeks. Its eligibility page names a time in business requirement, a monthly revenue floor and a personal credit minimum, and it also asks for no bankruptcies and good standing with your Secretary of State.

The business has to be a corporation or an LLC, which stops sole proprietors before any requirement gets read. Nevada, North Dakota, South Dakota and U.S. territories sit outside its footprint. Good standing is the quiet one: a missed annual report or an unpaid franchise tax can put your entity out of standing without notice.

How to price a credit membership like Nav's

Weigh the subscription against what it truly replaces. Nav publishes a footnote comparing one of its plans against buying comparable business credit reports directly from Experian, Equifax and Dun and Bradstreet. Price both sides yourself.

A monthly fee is not the price of the money. No funding amounts, eligibility minimums or funding speeds of Nav's own appear on the pages we reviewed, because the capital comes from partners. The lender sets the cost of the facility at the end.

Ask who gets paid, and ask by email. A written reply naming your product and how the company is compensated on it beats any general disclosure.

Know the exit before you pay for the entry. Find out whether cancelling is a click or a call, whether refunds are prorated, and whether downgrading stops the billing. Those answers set your real minimum spend.

Does Nav lend money? No. Its FAQ says so directly, and its footnote names Fundbox, or its bank partners First Electronic Bank and Lead Bank, as the parties making the loans and lines of credit available.

Will using Nav affect my credit score? No answer to that appears on the pages reviewed here, only the FCRA authorization described above. Put the question to Nav before you apply.

Do I have to pay to see funding options? Nav's public marketplace shows offers to visitors. Whether membership changes your match set was not tested, so ask before you subscribe.

How many lenders does Nav work with? Nav publishes a partner count in its own material, and its marketplace listing page shows a number of results that counts something different. If panel size matters, ask Nav for a current figure in writing.

Nav is good at the job it was built for. If your real project is a year of credit repair before a bank conversation, that subscription is a defensible line item.

If your real project is capital, you are paying every month to stand one step away from it. Send us the same file. We will read it and put one package in front of the lenders most likely to fund it. Ten minutes, no membership, nothing owed either way.
