How do I compare business loan offers?
To compare business loan offers properly, judge them on five things: total cost of capital, APR (not just the stated rate), payment size and frequency against your cash flow, fees, and prepayment terms. The headline rate alone is the worst single comparison tool in lending, a "lower rate" offer with heavy fees and weekly payments can cost more and squeeze you harder than its rival. Comparing badly costs real money; comparing well is a 20-minute exercise once you know the checklist. Quordx Capital makes the exercise easy by delivering multiple offers, fully disclosed, side by side.

The Five-Point Offer Comparison Checklist
1. Total cost of capital: Add up every dollar you'll repay, principal, interest, and all fees, and subtract what you receive.
2. APR: Annualized cost makes different terms comparable. Context helps: bank term loans priced near 7.2% median in late-2025 Fed data; SBA 7(a) variable rates currently run roughly 10.5%-14%; online term loans span roughly 14%-99%, clustering 18%-45% for average-risk borrowers.
3. Payment fit: A monthly payment behaves very differently from a daily or weekly debit. Map each offer's payment against your actual deposit rhythm: the cheapest loan on paper fails if its schedule starves your operating account.
4. Fees: Origination, draw, maintenance, wire, late: ask for every fee in writing. Fees are where similar-looking offers separate.
5. Prepayment and term flexibility: Can you pay off early without penalty? On interest-bearing loans, early payoff saves money; on factor-rate products, it doesn't. Know which you're holding.
Also weigh collateral and personal guarantee requirements, a slightly cheaper offer that pledges more of your world isn't automatically the winner.
Getting Offers Worth Comparing
Business term loans ($10K-$500K+): Compare on APR, fees, and amortization over 1-5 years.
Business lines of credit ($10K-$250K+): Compare on draw fees, maintenance fees, and rate on outstanding balances.
SBA loans: Compare lender pricing within SBA caps: lenders price differently even inside the program.
Equipment financing: Compare rate (commonly 7%-20%), term length (24-84 months typical), and end-of-term treatment.
