World of Hyatt Business Credit Card Review (2026): Elite Nights and Status Without a Free Night
Rates, fees and offers are current as of August 2026 and change without notice. Confirm terms with the issuer before you apply.
One fact settles most of the argument about the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card: for $199 a year it gives no free night award of any kind, not on the anniversary and not on a spend trigger. What it gives instead is Discoverist status for the authorizing officer, five tier-qualifying night credits per $10,000 in annual purchases with no ceiling, up to 9 points per dollar at Hyatt, and up to $100 back on Hyatt purchases each anniversary year. That mix suits owners climbing toward Explorist or Globalist, where night credits do work spending alone cannot. Two qualifying Hyatt purchases of $50 or more cut the effective fee to $99, a low bar if you already book Hyatt. If you expected a certificate to cover the fee, this card does not work that way.
Owners who stay at Hyatt often enough to care about elite tier progress and want business spending to count toward night credits.

How the World of Hyatt Business Rewards Work
Hyatt spending earns 4 bonus points per dollar at participating hotels, resorts and World of Hyatt Experiences, on top of up to 5 base points as a member, for as much as 9 points per dollar. Off property, the card ranks your quarterly spending and pays 2 bonus points per dollar in your top three categories, automatically and retroactively. The eligible list has exactly eight entries: dining, shipping, airline tickets bought direct, local transit and commuting, social media and search engine advertising, car rental agencies, gas stations, and internet, cable and phone. Gym memberships earn 2 points per dollar separately, and everything else earns 1.
Redemption still runs on a published eight-category chart, which Hyatt says it will keep rather than switching to dynamic pricing. Since May 20, 2026 it uses five demand tiers instead of three, with standard rooms priced from 3,000 to 75,000 points. One change matters if you also hold a transferable-points card: several Chase products that move Ultimate Rewards points into World of Hyatt drop from 1:1 to 4:3 on October 1, 2026, and the cut already applies to anyone who applied on or after June 15, 2026.
The World of Hyatt Business Welcome Offer
Chase flags the current offer as new: 70,000 bonus points after $7,000 in purchases within three months of opening, as of August 10, 2026. Points take six to eight weeks to post, and both Hyatt and Chase can reclaim them if the account is not open at least six months. The bonus is unavailable if you currently hold this business card or received its new cardmember bonus in the past 24 months. What 70,000 points buys varies widely by property and by the demand level of your dates.
Status, Elite Night Credits and Hyatt Credits
The most valuable feature is the elite night credits: five tier-qualifying nights per $10,000 in purchases each calendar year, with no limit. Employee spend counts even though employees earn no credits themselves, and the total resets on January 1.
Discoverist goes to the authorizing officer while the account is open and not in default, and takes up to eight weeks to appear. Employees do not get it automatically, but you receive five Discoverist upgrade awards to gift, and gifted status runs through the rest of that calendar year plus 14 months. The $100 annual Hyatt credit arrives as two $50 statement credits, each triggered by a single Hyatt purchase of $50 or more, including at restaurants and other locations owned, managed, franchised or licensed by Hyatt. Spend $50,000 across the account in one calendar year and you unlock a 10% points-back bonus on up to 200,000 points redeemed for the rest of that year, covering free night awards, Points and Cash stays, upgrades, dining and spa, but not Avis certificates or airline transfers.
What the World of Hyatt Business Costs
The annual fee is $199 with no waiver. The purchase APR is 19.24% to 27.74% variable, based on a 6.75% Prime Rate accurate as of May 5, 2026, with a 29.99% maximum. Cash advances run 28.49%, and default pricing of up to 29.99% can follow a missed or returned payment. No promotional APR period is offered.
Foreign purchases carry no surcharge. Balance transfers cost $5 or 5%, cash advances $15 or 5%, and late or returned payments $40 each. Break-even is simple: two Hyatt transactions of $50 or more return $100, leaving a $99 net fee for the night credits and Discoverist to justify. At $40,000 in annual purchases you generate 20 elite nights.
Who Should Get the World of Hyatt Business
The right holder already stays at Hyatt and is short of the nights for the tier they want. Because credits accrue at five nights per $10,000 with no cap, heavy card volume converts ordinary spending into real elite progress. It also fits a small team where the owner wants Discoverist and can hand upgrade awards to five travelers.
Who Should Skip It
Skip it if you were counting on an annual certificate to offset the fee, because there is none. Skip it if your hotel bookings follow price rather than brand, since the earn rate and the credits are locked to Hyatt. Approval is also a question if you have opened five or more card accounts across all issuers in the past 24 months, under a long-reported unofficial practice Chase has never confirmed.
Frequently Asked Questions
**Does this card include a free night on my anniversary?**
No. There is no anniversary free night, no anniversary point award and no spend-triggered night. If you see a claim otherwise, check the current terms.
**What happens to my Hyatt points if I close the account?**
Points already moved into your World of Hyatt account do not expire while the card is open. Close the card and unredeemed points are lost unless you have qualifying World of Hyatt activity at least once every 24 months.
**Do employees get Discoverist status too?**
Not automatically. Status belongs to the authorizing officer, though you receive five Discoverist upgrade awards to gift. Employees also earn no tier-qualifying night credits, even though their spending counts toward the $10,000 increments.
Bottom Line
Judge this one on elite night credits, not on certificates. For $199, effectively $99 after two qualifying Hyatt purchases, you get Discoverist, up to 9 points per dollar on Hyatt stays and five tier-qualifying nights per $10,000 spent with no upper limit. The absence of a free night award is real and should be priced in. If Hyatt is where your team sleeps and your volume makes the night credits add up, the fee is easy to defend; if not, nothing else here will carry it.
