Delta SkyMiles Reserve Business American Express Card Review (2026): The Fee Turns on Sky Club Visits

Rates, fees and offers are current as of August 2026 and change without notice. Confirm terms with the issuer before you apply.

The Delta SkyMiles Reserve Business American Express Card costs $650 a year, and whether that is defensible comes down to how often you walk into a Delta Sky Club. Access is no longer unlimited by default: you get 15 visits per eligible card each year, and unlimited entry only after $75,000 in purchases in a calendar year. In exchange the card carries Delta's strongest status accelerator, $1 in Medallion Qualification Dollars per $10 charged on top of a $2,500 annual head start, plus a companion certificate reaching Delta First. The credits total $610, so the lounge, the certificate and the status math carry the remainder.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • MQD Boost pays $1 MQD per $10 of purchases, the fastest status accrual in Delta's business line
  • Companion certificate covers Delta First, Premium Select, Comfort and Main fare classes
  • $610 a year in credits: $250 Delta Stays, $240 Resy and $120 rideshare
  • Each Additional Card carries its own 15 Sky Club visits rather than sharing a pool
Cons
  • Sky Club access is metered at 15 visits per card, turning unlimited only above $75,000 in spend
  • Entering the club while flying a partner airline Delta does not market or operate costs $50 per person
  • The credits total $610, which falls $40 short of the annual fee

How the Delta SkyMiles Reserve Business Card Rewards Work

| Rate | Category | Cap | |---|---|---| | 3X miles | Purchases made directly with Delta, where Delta is the merchant of record | None disclosed | | 1.5X miles | Eligible transit | None disclosed | | 1.5X miles | U.S. shipping | None disclosed | | 1.5X miles | U.S. office supply stores | None disclosed | | 1X mile | All other eligible purchases | n/a |

The useful detail is what is missing. None of the 1.5X categories carries a disclosed annual cap, so a business that ships constantly or buys supplies at volume keeps the rate all year. Eligible transit covers train, taxi, ride share, ferry, toll, parking, bus and subway, and excludes airfare, car rental and cruises.

Rewards accrue as Delta SkyMiles, redeemed for Delta and partner awards under dynamic pricing with no published chart. TakeOff 15 cuts 15 percent off award travel booked on Delta flights through Delta's channels.

The Delta SkyMiles Reserve Business Card Welcome Offer

The standing offer in the application terms is 80,000 bonus miles after $12,000 in eligible purchases within the first 6 months of Card Membership. At $2,000 a month, it is the steepest requirement across Delta's business cards.

Elevated versions surface periodically: as of August 2026 the card page showed a flagged special offer of 125,000 bonus miles at the same spend, so what you are served may match neither figure. The eligibility clause states you may not qualify if you have or have had this card or previous versions of it.

Sky Club Access, Companion Certificates and Status

Each eligible card, basic or additional, receives 15 visits a year to a Delta Sky Club or Grab and Go. Visits are issued at account opening and then every February 1, expire on January 31, and are non-transferable. Unlimited visits arrive only once eligible purchases on the account reach $75,000 in a calendar year, and entry while flying a partner airline Delta neither markets nor operates costs $50 per person.

Fifteen is not many if you fly weekly. Two Delta segments a week with a connection can exhaust the allotment by spring, and the fix is spend, not frequency. The visits also reset on February 1 while the $75,000 test runs January through December, so the two clocks do not line up. Centurion Lounge and Escape Lounge access is conditional: buy the Delta flight with this card and arrive within 90 minutes of departure.

The companion certificate arrives each year on renewal and covers one round-trip companion ticket on domestic, Caribbean or Central American itineraries. The Benefit Terms name the fare classes: Delta Main L, U, T, X and V; Delta Comfort W and S, but only when L, U, T, X or V is available in Main; Delta Premium Select A and G; Delta First I and Z. Delta One is excluded. Your companion pays $22 to $250 in taxes and fees on itineraries of up to four segments, and the certificate cannot be combined with web fares, sale fares or eCoupons.

Medallion Qualification Dollars are Delta's only qualification currency since MQMs and MQSs were retired, with 2027 status set by calendar-2026 MQDs at $5,000 Silver, $10,000 Gold, $15,000 Platinum and $28,000 Diamond. The card deposits $2,500 in MQD Headstart each year for the Basic Card Member and adds $1 MQD per $10 spent, so $25,000 of purchases reaches Silver and $75,000 reaches Gold.

What the Delta SkyMiles Reserve Business Card Costs

$650 a year, charged in the first year and every year after, with no waiver.

Do the credit arithmetic. Up to $250 back on prepaid Delta Stays bookings, up to $240 at Resy restaurants at $20 a month, and up to $120 in rideshare credit at $10 a month, all requiring enrollment or specific merchants, comes to $610. That is $40 shy of the fee, and the gap is the point: the price only holds up if the lounge, the certificate and the MQD acceleration are things you would otherwise buy. Global Entry or TSA PreCheck reimbursement, free checked bags, Hertz President's Circle status and trip protection coverages come on top.

Borrowing here is expensive and nothing softens it. No promotional APR exists on this card in any form, and the purchase rate ranges from 19.49% to 28.49% variable as of August 10, 2026, set at account opening. Penalty pricing is 29.99% variable and late and returned payments each reach $39. Purchases in other currencies carry no surcharge.

Who Should Get the Delta SkyMiles Reserve Business Card

Get this if your business puts $75,000 or more a year through one card and Delta is your airline. At that level the lounge stops being rationed, Gold Medallion arrives from spend alone, and the fee competes against unlimited club access rather than 15 entries. It also works for a lighter spender who flies Delta in premium cabins.

Who Should Skip It

Skip this if you fly Delta often but spend lightly, because that profile runs out of visits by spring and then holds a $650 card with no lounge access for the rest of the year. Skip it too if most of your lounge time is on partner airlines Delta does not operate.

Frequently Asked Questions

**Do employee cards get their own Sky Club visits?**

Yes. The terms grant 15 visits per eligible card each year rather than 15 for the account, and an additional card counts as an eligible card. The four annual guest passes and the MQD Headstart go to the Basic Card Member only.

**What happens if I downgrade after using the companion certificate?**

Delta reserves the right to cancel, rescind or void the certificate if the card is cancelled or downgraded within 60 days of the annual fee being billed. Because it is issued on renewal, timing a downgrade right after collecting it carries risk.

**Does the $75,000 unlimited threshold include employee spending?**

The requirement is total eligible purchases on the account reaching $75,000 in a calendar year, so spending across the account counts. MQD Boost works the same way.

Bottom Line

The number that decides this card is $75,000. Cross it in a calendar year and the Reserve Business becomes unlimited Sky Club access with a Delta First companion certificate, Gold Medallion from spend alone and $610 in credits attached. Fall short and you are buying 15 lounge entries and a fee the credits do not quite reach.
