LendingTree Alternatives: 5 Best LendingTree Business Loan Competitors
LendingTree calls itself a marketing lead generator on its own licensing page. That is not an accusation. It is the company naming its model correctly, and it explains what happens after you send in a loan request.
LendingTree describes a network of business lenders and matches one form to more than one of them, with offers by email. For plenty of owners that trade is worth making. Others go looking for a shop that sends the file fewer places.
What LendingTree does well as a lead generator, and where it costs you
It publishes a match limit, and that limit is written for the whole marketplace. Its FAQ states a maximum number of lenders it will pull from its database for one request, an answer covering mortgages, personal loans and business loans together, not business borrowing alone. Read it in context on its site. Its terms also say it is not a lender or creditor, does not take credit applications or make credit decisions, and that its services are only administrative.
Read who pays it, then read the consent agreement on cost. The terms say LendingTree is paid a marketing lead generation fee by providers, that compensation may affect how and where offers appear, and that it does not include every provider. The consent agreement calls the service free to the consumer, and the terms add that a provider you select may require an application or other fee. Ask in writing which applies to a business request.
Stopping the calls is your job, and the matching keeps running after you close the tab. Its terms set out opt-out routes for LendingTree's own calls, texts and emails. For a matched provider, they tell you to contact that provider yourself. Its Do Not Call page adds that giving your number puts you on the company list and triggers a notice to providers you were matched with during a published lookback period. The terms also let LendingTree keep matching you for a stated window after you submit, and call to name a provider that was not on your offers page. No time in business, revenue or credit minimums appear on the pages we reviewed, so there is no floor of its own to measure against.
Five places to send the file without entering a LendingTree auction
Quordx
We wrote this page, so treat it as an interested opinion.
One application, about 10 minutes. We read it ourselves, line by line, then come back with the kinds of funding your business can realistically reach. One complete package goes to three to seven lenders from a network of 50-plus, picked because they already fund businesses that look like yours. The lenders themselves advertise decisions within 24 to 48 hours, and funding 3 to 7 business days after an approval. It runs through a portal and your inbox, so no new number starts showing up on your phone.
Yes, some lenders pay us more than others. No, that is not how the recommendation gets made. If the smaller offer is the one that keeps your business healthy, that is the one we tell you to take. When nothing fits your file this month, we say so and go home with nothing. We are a small shop, and the work is the only thing we have to trade on.
You will never get a bill from us: no fee to apply, none for placing the file, none to process it. Lenders pay us a commission when a deal closes. That covers our side and not the loan itself. The lender still charges what it charges to write the loan, and closing costs sit with you as well. Finding out where you stand is the free part. We do not put up the money ourselves, we cannot approve you on our own, and we do not serve California, Nevada, North Dakota or South Dakota.
Lendio
Lendio is the closest peer in structure, and the pick if you want a marketplace that also tells you where your file landed. Its privacy policy commits, in writing, to give you on request a list of the financing providers it shared your data with.
Lendio states it works with a network of lenders and funders through one online application, and advertises a funding speed footnoted as depending on the product. Both figures sit on its site. Read its phone consent first. Giving a number means agreeing to autodialed and prerecorded calls and texts from Lendio and from third parties acting for it, and that consent runs on after you cancel unless you opt out.
National Business Capital
National Business Capital is the one to try if you want to know whether you clear the bar before anybody holds your statements. Its FAQ publishes a minimum operating history for all solutions except equipment financing, plus an annual revenue floor that plenty of healthy businesses do not clear. Check both before you apply.
It calls itself a direct lender, publishes a maximum funding amount, and has access to a lender network alongside its in-house products. It performs soft pulls for approvals, states that a majority of its lenders also pull soft, and says it will tell you upfront if a hard inquiry is needed to produce an offer.
OnDeck
OnDeck is a direct lender operating as a brand of Enova International, and it publishes its bar in one place: a minimum time in business, an annual revenue floor, a personal FICO minimum and a business checking account.
Eligibility starts with a soft credit check on the owner's personal credit, and OnDeck advertises same-day funding for customers who qualify. Its term loan carries a personal guarantee and a general lien on business assets, which matters if you plan to add a second facility.
Fundbox
Fundbox is worth a look if a marketplace was going to route you there anyway. Its published entry requirement is a business checking account with a minimum history of transactions, and no revenue floor, time in business figure or score minimum appears on its current pages. Fundbox makes capital available through business loans and lines of credit originated by First Electronic Bank or Lead Bank.
The first credit decision comes from reading your bank transactions on a soft pull, and the hard pull arrives at your first draw. It publishes a maximum facility size on a short repayment schedule, and states you can choose your terms with no early repayment fees.
How to count what a LendingTree match actually costs
Count the parties, not the forms. One form can put your revenue figures in front of multiple companies at once, and each may keep it whether or not you fund. A short list still produces real competition, with a smaller footprint.
Ask who pays the shop, then read the sentence after it. Free at the front door and free at the closing table are two different questions, and usually only the first one has been answered.
Check who publishes a floor you can measure yourself against. LendingTree assigns underwriting criteria to its providers rather than setting borrower minimums of its own. The direct lenders here publish theirs, which lets you screen yourself out early.
Read the opt-out language before you read the rate. How you stop contact, and who is responsible for stopping it, will shape your next two weeks more than any headline number.
Does LendingTree charge business owners a fee? Its services are free to the consumer, and it charges no fee for matching borrowers with lenders. Its terms add that closing costs are set by the provider you select.
How many lenders will actually receive my information? Its FAQ publishes a match limit, written as a general marketplace answer rather than a business-specific one. Its public partner list names who may contact you, not who received your file.
If I join LendingTree's internal Do Not Call list, does that stop the lenders too? Not by itself. Adding yourself covers LendingTree's own calls, texts and emails, and triggers a notice to providers you were previously matched with. Stopping a matched provider is yours to do with that provider, and LendingTree states it is not responsible if one fails to stop. Keep a list of who contacts you.
Will a LendingTree business loan request hurt my credit? Its terms state that submitting a qualification form may involve a soft credit inquiry that will not affect your score. Its FAQ is written more broadly, describing a credit report pull when you complete a loan request, across all loan types. Ask which applies to a business request before you submit.
If LendingTree produced offers you like and the calls do not bother you, take the best one.
If you would rather the same file went to a handful of lenders, send it over. We will take a complete package to the ones most likely to approve it. Ten minutes, and no fee from us either way.
